Mia Yee-Komai
Senior Specialist, BroadLife, Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard
Mia Yee-Komai is the Senior Specialist, BroadLife, at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, in Cambridge Massachusetts. Drawing on her expertise in human-centered design and socio-cultural anthropology, Mia designs impactful programs that seamlessly integrate holistic well-being, work-life balance, and diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB). With a nuanced understanding of the diverse workforce at the Broad Institute, spanning academia and biotech with employees from various cultural backgrounds and disciplines, Mia tailors BroadLife initiatives to meet the unique needs of employees. A highlight of her work has been supporting “first-generation professionals,” ensuring equitable access to Broad’s well-being benefits and resources, including educational outreach to highlight the significance of specific resources and benefits, such as Calm! Additionally, Mia serves as Co-Chair of Asian and Asian Americans at Broad, further contributing to a culture of well-being and belonging.
Ronnie Mae Weiss
BroadLife Associate Director, Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard
Ronnie Mae Weiss is the Associate Director of the Broad Institute’s BroadLife department and a pioneering leader in work life and wellbeing, with 20+ years’ experience designing, launching and scaling innovative, impactful employee benefits programs for multinational corporations, start-ups & universities. Prior to her time at Broad, Ronnie Mae served as senior manager of the MIT Center for WorkLife and Wellbeing, director of talent management and work life specialist at Harvard University, and director of innovation and new product development for Work/Family Directions. Ronnie Mae spearheaded the establishment of MIT’s Employee Assistance Program, which achieved the highest utilization of any higher education institution. As a champion of worklife integration, Ronnie Mae has launched a broad range of programs and services to address holistic employee needs including: social-emotional well-being, financial well-being, physical well-being, and parenting.
